What is Floating?

In a Float Pod, also known as a Sensory Deprivation Tank, you are floating in warm water, the same temperature of your skin, that is saturated with a very high concentration of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate).

Are you sure I can float?

Absolutely, over a thousand pounds of Epsom salt provides buoyancy for your body to float effortlessly.

Is it safe to float?

Floating is generally safe for everyone, however, it is required that you contact your doctor before floating if you have the following conditions:

** Diabetes, Kidney Disease, history of Heart trouble, have a pacemaker, epilepsy, seizures, blackouts, have a medical condition that does not allow you to tolerate absorption of magnesium sulfate, if you are pregnant, or you are being treated for cancer.

** Floating is actually very helpful for pregnant women, however, if you are pregnant, a note from your doctor is required.

Is there anything I should do before my float?

While there is no specific preparation needed before floating, we do NOT recommend shaving or waxing before your float as the salt water can irritate your skin. Also, avoid eating a heavy meal before floating as sometimes this can cause some nausea.

What other things do I need to avoid before I can float?

1. No recent hair dye - please wait 7-10 days before floating after you have had your hair colored.  If the water running through your hair still has some color running through it, then please wait a couple more showers/days.  Swim Caps do not work.  Also, we make no guarantees that the salt won’t strip some color from your hair.

2. No spray tans within the last 2 weeks.

3. No open wounds/sores, including fresh tattoos that have scabs, no comminicable or infections disease, illness or skin disorders.

4. No henna tattoos or ink that will dissolve in the water.

5.No dirt, oils, creams, makeup, etc on your body or hair (you will shower before getting into the pod to remove these things).

What should I expect when I come to float?

You will be required to complete a waiver the first time you visit.  You will choose some soothing sounds to listen to and then we will show you how to operate the pods.  You will then enjoy a very relaxing, calming experience.

Do I need to bring anything with me to my session?

Unless there is something specific you need or wish to use, we have everything here.  We provide shampoo, body wash, towels, robes, shower shoes, ear plugs (these are mandatory for floating), neck pillow, hair dryer.

Are the pods in a private room?

Yes, you will have your own individual room with your own shower.  You will shower before getting into the pod with just shampoo and body wash (nothing with any oils, i.e. conditioner, etc), you will get right into the pod, then after your float, you will shower again to remove all of the salt from your hair and body.

What should I wear in the Pods?

Because you are in a completely private area, you are not required to where anything in the pod, in fact, we prefer it.  If you do want to wear a swimming suit, we require that you wear this in the shower prior to floating, to remove any detergents or chemicals that could be in the swim wear.

Can two people float together in the same pod?

Yes, our float pods are large enough that two people can float in the pod at the same time.

Do I have to close the lid if I'm claustrophobic?

No, you absolutely can float with the lid of the pod open.

How do the pods stay clean?

Our Dreampod Vmax comes well equipped with several features to maintain the hygiene of the water. The main filter device is a custom built stainless steel enclosure holding a replaceable 10 micron filter bag, capable of filtering debris in the water as small as 1/4 the size of the diameter of a human hair. Water is also pumped by a UV light array, taking care of any micro-organisms that survives the extreme salt content of the water. It also has a chemical injection system, allowing us to add a peroxide disinfectant.

Will I drown if I fall asleep?

Not at all.  A lot of people do fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant that you will stay afloat.

Can I float if I'm menstruating?

Yes, you can float while you are menstruating. Just treat it the same as if you were going to a swimming pool while on your period.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy.  If you cancel within 24 hours of your float, you will be charged $25.  If you are cancelling last minute, we don't have ample time to fill your spot, and that is time that someone else could have used.
